Prayer

Prayer

We believe that prayer is very important.  Prayer helps us to build a relationship with God.  When we pray, we bring both our concerns and our thanksgiving to God. We believe that God hears and responds to our prayers, although not necessarily in the way we expected or hoped for.

The most well known of all Christian prayers is the Lord's Prayer, which Jesus taught his disciples (Matthew 6:9-13).  There are several modern versions of this prayer, but this is the most common:

THE LORD'S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name;
thy kingdom come; thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

The Church in the Dale produces a regular prayer calendar, which is used by all the congregations.  The calendar prompts us to pray for a different group or situation on each day of the month.   We welcome your prayers for us and with us.
